ENSTAR Natural Gas Company was founded in 1961, making it
one of the oldest energy companies operating in Alaska. ENSTAR headquarters
are in
Anchorage, with satellite offices in
Soldotna and
Wasilla. The history of ENSTAR is closely aligned with the history of
Alaska since statehood. Over those years, ENSTAR has grown with the 49th
state, supplying energy that has helped communities grow and prosper and
improving the quality of life here in South-Central Alaska.

ENSTAR's residential and commercial rates have stayed consistently the
lowest in the United States while gas usage per-residential-customer is
the highest among investor-owned utilities. However, in recent years the
state has rapidly moved from a market of excess deliverability to an environment
where deliverability does not meet demand. On behalf of gas consumers, ENSTAR
has taken a leadership role in seeking new sources of low cost natural gas
supplies. While there is still potential in Cook Inlet gas fields, they
are becoming increasingly expensive to explore and develop. The good news
is that natural gas supplies have been located in the Nenana Basin,
south of Fairbanks, and Alaska's North Slope has known gas reserves that
can supply the entire nation. With quick action by the Alaska Legislature,
this gas can be brought on line in time to meet the growing needs of Alaska
consumers and keep prices among the lowest in the nation.

ENSTAR Natural Gas serves approximately 345,600 Alaskans or 128,000 meters.
In 2007, we added over 2,300 new customers. We operate over 3,000 miles
of distribution line through out South-Central Alaska and over 450 miles
of high pressure transmission line through our sister company, Alaska Pipeline
Company (APC).
Good corporate citizenship has always been a part of ENSTAR's commitment
to the communities we serve. This involves much more than simply the outlay
of cash. The 174 employees of ENSTAR are encouraged to become active in
community life, and they provide countless hours of service to help improve
the quality of life of all Alaskans.
ENSTAR also makes a difference through financial assistance and special
community events and programs that enrich the lives of Alaskan residents.
