ENSTAR sizes the natural gas meter based on the capacity required to serve the total square footage and connected BTU load of your structure. Natural gas meters need to be located on the front 1/3 of your structure nearest to the natural gas main. There are also several meter location requirements that must be complied with to ensure a safe meter installation.
Though usually limited to commercial applications, a concrete meter pad may be required depending on the size and type of meter needed for your application. Installation of meter protection, typically consisting of four-inch diameter pipe bollards filled with concrete, may be required to protect the meter from vehicular traffic or other potential damage. Construction and installation of these items is the customer’s responsibility.
